Bio
In May 2010 drummer Gerben (ex-Daybreak) and frontman Steven (ex-Daybreak, ex-ALE) found themselves in need of a new creative and musical outlet after the breakup of their former band. Both aimed for a different style, new songs, different vibe, different edge, in short: a clean slate. They invited guitarist Laurens (Motion Glue) and bassplayer Serge (ex-KYHL) over for a jam at their rehearsalplace in Wilrijk. A few hours later it appeared they got just what they aimed for.
This Kid's Got No Name has their first songs well together by now. Think of a triple turntable where At The Drive-In, Refused and The Bronx are mixed up with some ferocious knobtwisting that gives this crossover of rock, hardcore and punk its experimental and even funky edge. Think against the grain-songstructures, a desire to do things differently and most of all: make music with a passion for the music, the way th&eamp;y want their music to sound, regardless of genre, stale stylistic dogma or nitpicking you-know-the-kind punk friend that got stuck somewhere in the nineties.
So far things are going pretty smooth:
December 2010: guitarist Jens (ex-Timer, Sad Suzy) joins TKGNN: the rate of both pedalboard sluttiness and guitar riffage suddenly rises exponentially.
January-February 2011: the first very well-received shows of a 10-show tour, booked on nothing but anticipation.
March 2011: recording of "Swim Through Land", a 3-song demo with album production values, thanks to the Epic Productions team at Rockstar Recordings.
Check out TKGNN on one of our shows in 2011: it's gonna be swell.
